My academic background is in forest sciences, with a specialized focus on silviculture, particularly forest ecosystems, plant physiology, and forest genetic improvement in the context of a changing climate. My research has been dedicated to understanding the mechanisms that regulate the physiological responses and growth of forest species with ecological and economic importance, considering the impacts of climate change. I am particularly interested in studying the adaptation and growth behavior of forest species under varying agroecological conditions, as well as identifying genotypes with potential for further analysis and reproduction. Currently, I lead the forest genetic improvement program, which encompasses several research lines, including the selection of forest species with high ecological and economic value, the selection of provenances of these species, and progeny studies aimed at establishing seed orchards. I teach the courses Tree Physiology and Forest Genetic Improvement. In addition, I serve on the editorial board of the scientific journal Environmental Monitoring and Assessment as an associate editor and special issue editor

Dr. Felipe Galvan-Magaña is a Senior Professor in Center for Marine Sciences in National Polytechnic Institute in La Paz, México. He was an Adjunct Researcher at the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla, California. He is at present in Emeritus status in the National System of Researchers of SECIHTI, Mexico. He has nearly 45 years of experience working in projects related to biology of sharks, rays, tunas, billfishes, dolphins and biodiversity on fishes from coastal lagoons and islands. His research also includes trophic ecology, isotopes of carbon and nitrogen analysis, heavy metals, reproduction, age and growth in sharks and rays. Trophic relationships in fishes from the open ocean, island and coastal lagoons. He is presently teaching graduate courses of Ichthiology, Fish ecology, Elasmobranch biology, Trophic ecology in marine organisms. He has participated in more than 200 international/ national conferences/ workshops since 1982. He has published more than 300 research articles in international journals and has been as Director of Thesis for nearly 200 Bachelor, Master´s and Doctorate Degree students. He is a recipient of several fellowships and grants like: a) Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Mexico); b) Pfleger Institute of Environmental Research; c) SAGARPA-CONACYT; d) Pelagic Fisheries Research Program from University of Hawaii; e) MEX-US (University of California-Mexico), CONACYT and f) Monterey Bay Aquarium. Dr. Priyadarsi Debajyoti Roy is a senior researcher at the Institute of Geology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His research has focused on geochemistry and other geospatial methodologies for reconstructing the effects of natural climate variability during the geological past and estimating changes in land use and land cover caused by various natural disasters associated with global warming and anthropogenic disturbances in Mexico, India, and other parts of the world. He has also been a pioneer in the development of emerging themes of environmental assessment, such as the detection of toxic metals in sargassum deposits on the coast of the Mexican Caribbean Sea, and detection and characterization of microplastics in the atmospheric deposits, drinking water, beverages, and other edible products. Some of his research provided valuable data on air and water quality during the COVID-19 restrictions, and his studies on water in different regions under the water stress were key to detecting recharge sources, the impact of SGD and saline intrusion in coastal aquifers and characterizing their viability for irrigation and human consumption. He has been awarded the National University Distinction Award for Young Academics in Natural Sciences Research and is recognized with the distinction of National Researcher Level III by SECIHTI. He has also appeared on the list of Best Earth Science Scientists in Mexico and in the Top 3% Researchers in Mexico.

Dr. Antonio Cobelo-García

Antonio Cobelo García (Vigo, 1974) studied Chemical Sciences at the University of Vigo, obtaining his degree in 1997. At the same university, he completed his undergraduate thesis, earning a degree with honors in Chemical Sciences in June 1999. In 2000, he joined the Marine Biogeochemistry Group at the Institute of Marine Research (IIM-CSIC), where he completed his Ph.D. (University of Vigo, 2003). He later moved to the School of Earth, Ocean and Environmental Sciences at the University of Plymouth (United Kingdom), where he worked as a postdoctoral researcher under the European Union's Marie Curie program from 2004 to 2007. In 2007, he was awarded a Ramón y Cajal contract at CSIC and returned to the Institute of Marine Research (IIM-CSIC). Since July 2008, he has been a Tenured Scientist at CSIC. His research focuses on the biogeochemical cycling of trace elements, particularly those with biological roles and those considered emerging contaminants, in riverine, estuarine, and coastal systems. He has been the principal investigator of three research projects and participated in nine others. Currently (2015–2019), he is leading the COST Action TD1407 (Network on Technology-Critical Elements – from Environmental Processes to Human Health Threats) of the EU (H2020). He has published a total of 83 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in the SCI, with a current H-index of 26 and over 2,190 citations, and has presented more than 50 papers at international scientific conferences. He was a management committee member of the COST Action ES0801 (The Ocean Chemistry of Bioactive Trace Elements and Paleoclimate Proxies) funded by the European Union, from 2008 to 2012. He has co-supervised three Ph.D. theses (all awarded "Sobresaliente Cum Laude") and is currently supervising another doctoral thesis. He has served as a reviewer for over 30 different international scientific journals and has been teaching in the Master's program in Oceanography at the University of Vigo. From 2010 to 2014, he was Head of the Department of Oceanography at the IIM-CSIC.

6th International Conference on Environmental Sciences (CIMA 2025)

CIMA is pleased to invite all researchers, professors, students, industry professionals, and environmentalists to attend the 6th International Conference on Environmental Sciences (CIMA 2025), which will take place from November 12 to 15, 2025, in the coastal tourist city of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Due to the high global demand and leveraging advanced technological tools, the event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participation both in person and online, facilitating exchange and interaction among attendees.

About the Conference

The main focus is the destruction of the planet in all its manifestations, which constitutes a social problem that also affects the ecological system. This reduces its capacity to absorb alterations, maintain its basic structure, functions, and the self-organization needed to withstand stress and adapt to the changing environment. The objective of this conference is to reflect on and discuss the problems our planet faces and what the current generation will leave for future ones. The future of Earth in relation to the environment is alarming, given the various environmental issues related to air, water, soil/sediments, and their direct impact on human health. The continuous changes on our planet also lead to or are linked to natural disasters and human health problems. It is crucial that human intervention and all living beings become aware that we only have one planet and that we must act to protect and preserve it.
